The Rules: You earn 10 points a day by eliminating an unhealthy habit and 10 points a day by practicing a new healthy habit. You must declare your habit choices below and stick with them for the entire game
The Penalty: Each time you change your habit choices, you lose 50 points, so choose carefully!
The Exception: You get a day off from this rule too--but be smart about it.
I think the idea of this is that it be non-food related
I have a ton of ideas floating around for a healthy habit to start: clean every day for 20 min. My basement would thank me, play the violin for 20 min a day (perhaps another game, really!), Floss my teeth every night (hmm, my dentist would like that one), Yoga, prayer three times a day. So many ideas and I can only choose one. See below for people's transformations. Yes, they need to be in writing!

My Healthy Habit: I will clean a minimum of 20 minites a day the laundry side of the basement. If I finish this side I must start on the other side of the basement (wonder where all the comic books will wind up? hehe) The laundry side will be clean and orderly by the end of the challenge.
ReplyDeleteMy unhealthy habit: Laziness: I will place all of my dirty clothes in the hamper and the clean clothes must be hung up before I go to bed each day.
Do you notice a pattern here? Apparently, I must have too many clothes!
My healthy Habit: I will also clean a minimum of 20 minutes a day on my upstairs. If I finsh this (which is doubtful) I will clean in my basement. If no one hears from me for a couple of days, please call the National Guard - I am probably buried under a pile and can't get out.
ReplyDeleteMy unhealthy habit: I guess it runs in the family.... Laziness is also my bad habit.I am going to put all dirty clothes in the hamper and hang up the clean ones. I am also going to do 1 load of laundry each day so I don't have it all on the weekends.
My healthy habit:I am in this place in my life where everything (except my granddaughter) sucks. The worst part is.....IT IS SO NOT TRUE! I have made a list of all my blessings (which I seem to add to daily) and I am going to read them every day, This is to remind me how truly blessed I am, and to quit worrying about the small stuff.
ReplyDeleteMy unhealthy habit:I have messed up my back. I always lift and bend using my back and not my legs. I am going to use my knees to lift. For me this is really hard. I have always had a strong back and suddenly NOT! It is like trying to learn to walk again.
My Healthy Habit: My garage, and my back room are a total disaster. I will try to clean my garage, and get my second car into it. If that gets finished, I will start cleaning my back room, and disposing of the old stuff that is in there.
ReplyDeleteMy Unhealthy Habit: I am a horribly negative, and pessimistic person. I am going to be more positive, and not look for the bad things in life. This could range from looking for good things at work, instead of just assuming it all is bad....to accepting compliments from people, instead of blowing them off...to even just trying to smile and be a happier person. It may sound easy, but it really won't be for me.
Mike-garage cleaning needs to be for a minimum of 20 min a day. Good luck on your unhealthy habit. That is a difficult one!
ReplyDeleteMarsha-heh, call the national guard! Miki wanted to take a picture of my basement so she could have it posted (before and after)! Can we do the same to yours?
Miki--good luck with your changing your unhealthy habit. It will be a great one even if you only change it 50-75% of the time. I'm counting on Dave to bust ya! You know, for the positiveness of it ;)
I was so excited to get started on this....now not so much!!!! I really miss my coke, the kind you drink - not snort!!! I'm considering giving the snorting kind a try- is it allowed according to the book?????
ReplyDeleteChris - make fun of my room now - but just wait in 5 weeks it will be beautiful and so will I!!!
My hubby was very proud of me this week (so far), He said I am doing a great job of not using my back.
ReplyDeleteJust so you know he would rat me out to Josh, who would tell Chris, who would take away 10 points. Oh by the way how is the basement, garage, and upstairs coming?
Keep up the good work everyone!
I'm strugglingly. The one thing I have learned is that chocolate is my best friend and a very large hot fudge sundae with pecans keeps calling my name. So far I've been able to ignore these voices, but it is getting harder. The good news is I am getting my water in now without feeling like I'm carrying an innertube around my middle.
ReplyDeleteAlso my upstairs is getting better, but it is very hard to get up there everyday. I think I need to disconnect my cable and get rid of all the books I have to read!!!! Oh well only 4 weeks left - I think I can make it!!! Everyone on my team - keep up the good work!! All the VA people listen to your inner voices and eat all the pizza, chocolate, cake and pies you want!!!
On to week 3. I have now decided that I am not overweight - I am undertall!!!! I think a couple of months of growth hormones might help. If I was 7'2" I would look damn good!!!
ReplyDeleteHeelllooo, is there anyone still playing with me?? Did I scare everyone away??
